The Latin America and Caribbean Hub is hosted by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and its mission is to facilitate the implementation of Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) in Latin America and the Caribbean region. The Hub launched a partnership between the IDB, the UN Development Program’s Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean (UNDP), and the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) to help coordinate activities and information related to SEforALL in the region. The Latin America Energy Organization (OLADE) joined the Hub as a fourth partner in 2015.
The mission of the Latin America and Caribbean Hub is to support the implementation of SEforALL goals in Latin America and the Caribbean region.
Activities include the creation of knowledge products, help with planning for universal energy access, coordination with national and international partners, policy analysis, and improved project preparation and access to finance for projects that support SEforALL’s goals. Increased coordination related to sustainable energy will help catalyze major new investment opportunities in order to speed-up the transformation of the world’s energy systems, help eliminate energy poverty and increase prosperity.
The Hub also collaborates with thematic partners which include the International Energy Agency (IEA), the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency (CCEE).
