IRENA Renewable Energy Hub

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is mandated as the global hub for renewable energy cooperation and information exchange by 140 Members (139 States and the European Union as of April 2015). IRENA promotes the widespread adoption and sustainable use of all forms of renewable energy, including bioenergy, geothermal, hydropower, ocean, solar and wind energy.

In its role as the SEforALL Renewable Energy Hub, IRENA has developed the Global Renewable Energy Roadmap (REmap 2030), which explores pathways to double the share of renewables in the global energy mix. Furthermore, the roadmap examines how renewable energy could support SEforALL’s other objectives of achieving universal access to modern energy services, and doubling the rate of energy efficiency improvements.
